Married just one year later, Tina soon discovered that there was something seriously wrong with her fairytale. The marriage was filled with lies, deception, fraud and many tears. Tina was left in an utter state of confusion. This wasn't the man that she married…or was it?
Tina first heard the term, “Narcissistic Personality Disorder” from her therapist in 2008 but I quickly dismissed the notion that something could be wrong with her husband. It took several years for Tina to begin researching the disorder and suddenly, the past ten years of her life made complete sense. Tina soon discovered that there is only one thing more difficult than being married to a narcissist and that is divorcing a narcissist.
Tina’s blog, “One Mom’s Battle” was created in 2011 to document her struggles with divorcing a narcissist in the California Family Court System. Tina’s blog gained international attention and a quarter of a million page views in its first year while appearing in the Huffington Post, Examiner.com, Washington Times and Yahoo.com. Tina’s blog has become a support system and a lifeline for thousands of women across the world and her new book, “Divorcing a Narcissist” will take that support system to the next level.
In her book, Tina will explain how a smart, independent woman can fall prey to a narcissistic man. Tina discusses the “red flag reflections” that she chose to ignore while dating and during the marriage. Tina acted as her own attorney in a divorce that can only be described as hell on Earth and she will share the strategies that helped her to navigate through this battle while maintaining her sanity and sense of humor.
Tina’s goal is to help you feel less alone in your journey and to assure you that there is light at the end of the tunnel no matter how dark things are right now. You may be convinced that no one will understand the amount of conflict and contention in your divorce. Not only does Tina understand but she has been through it and survived. You have a choice to be a victim or a survivor and Tina hopes that you will choose to reclaim your voice and fight to protect your children.

Tina's message was just what I needed to hear! I'm not alone. I'm not the crazy one. Keep up the fight. After 3 years (so far) through a very acrimonious divorce experience, I finally have some explanation why it has been so hard. I heard of a narcissist before, but I never considered it to be such a devastating personality disorder until I started learning more about it. It took me years to recognize the subtle and constant abuse that narcissism created in my marriage. Tina's story helped me go "no contact" as much as possible, and begin the process of reclaiming my life and happiness. I feel I have more tools to use when my ex-narc will start again with whatever-he-tries-next.
Thank you Tina, for the Ah-ha! moments throughout your book that helped me recognize classic narcissistic behavior, and how to deal with it. Thank you for the red-flag reflections. Thank you for "getting it" when so many people around me don't. Only his closest family members see the bizarre and abusive behavior. Others see him as a charming successful and all around good guy. Thank you for reminding me to document everything, because eventually his teflon coating will wear thin.
I just can't say thank you enough for the awareness and education that you are bringing to this topic. I donated my copy to my local women's shelter.

For so long I have been searching for a book that validated what I was going through; that could show me that I wasn't the only one in the world that was going through this. So grateful to Tina Swithin for writing this book. I could not put it down and read it in one night. Amazing and highly recommend to anyone who is going through a high conflict divorce and/or is dealing with a narcissistic ex-spouse.
