I am 8 months into my nursing career, and starting out as an ICU nurse has been challenging. I glanced through this book when one of my coworkers left hers floating around the unit and I knew I had to have my own copy. I love it! It is an excellent resource. I bring all sorts of papers and reference material with me to work at various times, but I *always* have this book, because it is small but packed with helpful information. I have started writing additional notes in it so it will eventually be the only thing I have to keep with me. It has been invaluable to me, and I find myself wishing I had the time and mental energy to sit down and read it all the way through; I know I'd learn a lot!

This is one of the most comprehensive and concise books I have ever come across. The information is presented in a way that is easy to understand but doesn't down play your intelligence. I am a nurse in a trauma/neuro ICU and I was recommended this book while on orientation as a new grad nurse by a surgeon. This book provides basic info on common and uncommon issues that you face in the critical care environment. I keep this book in my work bag and utilize it almost every shift. I STRONGLY recommend this book for anybody working in critical care.
